Stony Lake

Stony Lake is located along the township line between Benona and Claybank Townships in Oceana County. This lake is just a few miles, as the crow flies, north and west of Rothbury. To find this Michigan, exit US 31 at the New Era exit and head west, you can’t miss it.

Stony Lake consists of 278 acres of surface waters with reported depths of up to 40 feet.

Stony Lake is home to the American Youth Foundation’s MiniwancaCamps.  Miniwanca Camps consists of a boy’s summer camp as well as a girl’s camp. The camp has frontage on Stony Lake as well as Lake Michigan.

The lakefront property owners formed the Stony Lake Association to care for the lake and at the same time protecting the quality of the lake and the area.   Stony Lake flows under Scenic Drive into nearby Lake Michigan through Stony Creek. On a hot summer day, you can often see people cooling off tubing down the creek.
