Long Lake is located in Long Lake Township in Grand Traverse County, adjacent to Silver Lake (600 acres), Bass Lake, Ruth Lake (49 acres), Cedar Hedge Lake (195 acres) and Lake Dubonnet (645 acres).

Long Lake has two islands worthy of mentioning: Long Island and South Island.
